Every month

It seems I go through something. It’s a week of reflection, some sadness, and a refocus of things in my life; friends, career, and personal agendas. I’m not sure why it happens but I try using it to my advantage. This week I realize I need to, once again, look for another job. I will give myself a month to do this. Along with looking for a new place to live once my father and his wife are back from the Dominican Republic. I’m not worried, but the pressure is on. Stay tuned.

Gentrification-x-Colonization

Awhile ago I created a poll and asked if Gentrification is a modern form of Colonization. What I found interesting were two real estate agents who thought not. Aside from that, I just realized now, Gentrification can not be placed on the same plane as Colonization. However, perhaps these two fall under some sentiment that states “we’re here, and we’re changing things our way, from our perspective in aesthetic and lifestyle, and you really can’t stop us” that I find problematic. I’m not against migration trends, but I am against carelessness. Especially in regards to people. I hope in the future I can be part of an opportunity to make great change. And when that happens, I hope I and others, can guide and check in appropriately.

– 11/19 Coming back to this after a few weeks. Another factor displeasing to me in regards to gentrification is the creation of a Disneyland from the minds of one (or similar in taste) social group.

– 2/24 Still keeping this updated; Gentrification is class warfare. I thank my friend and some articles I read about the subject. Here are two interesting pieces of information I found:

1. What Happens When Latinx People Gentrify Latinx Communities:

2. Defend Boyle Heights; against gentrification of all types - recognizes class warfare
